Congo Tetras

I bought myself 6 congo tetras but they are still small and as such have not yet coloured up. I was not able to sex them either. At what age or what size do they colour up and show their true colours? Would at that age the males' tailfin develop too?

Mine started to colour up when they reached about 2"-2.5", the fins became a lot more prominent in the male too.

Ok, mine are now around 3 cm, so they should basically double in size before I see any changes. Thanks very much.

They grow fast so you won't have to wait long. I got mine in April at about 3-4 cm, and they are colored up and about 8 cm now. One of my favorite fish. May males are stunning.

Yes, I love the colours of this fish and their liveliness; one of the main reasons I was so persistent in trying to get them.

It is good to know that I don't have to wait too long for them to colour up! I am currently on a business trip and have housed them with a friend. Hopefully when I get back (in 3 weeks)some will start to get colours...
