hey everyone ive bin keeping congo puffers for a while now ( ive got 4 all in separate tanks ) and i was wundrin if anyone has any info at all on breeding them ? there isnt any info anywhere else . THANKS
:)

according to Baensch books it hasn't yet been succesful in aquaruims and there no reference on sexing them either.

I highly do not suggest putting those puffers together, as they aren't compatable with their own species.

Pardon the sarcasm, but how do the breed then -_-
Pollination ?? ;)

i reakon to have them breed you would need a large tank mimicking there natural enviroment. but how are you meant to breed hem with out knowing there sexes...

i think most puffers are hard/impossible to breed in capitivity due to agresion issues.

The same way you breed bettas :) Condition, give them just enough time, then seperate them again. The only problem is that with bettas you can see the difference in sex, you cant with the congo puffer.

I seem to recall that it has been commented on about the Nile (Fahaka) puffers that they are so aggressive, especially to their own species, that no-one can figure out how they can get close enough to breed in the wild...I can only assume that there may be some catalyst in the wild that sparks some form of breeding behaviour.
