I am confused on how to breed corydoras. I did read the link on how to breed corydoras and i still have some questions because still seems confuseing. Now it did say you need to have 6 corys or some where around that to breed mabey alittle less but it also did say in a 5-10 gal tank. I do have both a 5 and a ten gal tank in which are empty currently but that seems pretty small to me. So what tank should i have them in to do their bussiness. Secound off would they eat their young? i am guessing they would but not sure. Another thing is how will i know they have layed eggs so what i am trying to say is where are the key areas i should look to see if they have. And Last question is there a way to tell if the female is full of eggs and ready to lay them? Sorry for all the questions. I read the whole article i guess i must have missed a few things and or i'm just not that bright.

Hello Pomegranate86. In most, but not all instances, Cory breeding groups should be comprised of 2 females and 4 males. This is a good starting point which you can deviate from, after a little success.

I use 10G tanks for breeding all of my Corys, but a 5 gallon would work. I have done that, too.

Second off would they eat their young? i am guessing they would but not sure.
Yes, they will eat the wigglers. Best to remove either the eggs or adults before hatch time (generally 4 - 5 days).

Another thing is how will i know they have layed eggs so what i am trying to say is where are the key areas i should look to see if they have.
Although different specie have preferred spots, in a 10 G tank, you are not going to have any trouble spotting the eggs.

And Last question is there a way to tell if the female is full of eggs and ready to lay them?
That, also, should be quite obvious. Depending on the amount of eggs she is carrying, in most species the female will be bulging and may have a rounded stomach area that makes it difficult for her to even sit flat. I'm sure you'll spot it just fine.

Sorry for all the questions. I read the whole article i guess i must have missed a few things and or i'm just not that bright.
Now we be a good time to start doing some research. Reading one article is not going to give you every bit of information to help make you successful. Remember, "Google is your friend." - Frank
