I'm new. :D
For Tiger Barbs, some websites say that I need 10-15 gallons of water; other sites say 2-5 Gallons of water needed for a good environment. Which one should I go for?

The question of removing water and adding water:
I currently have this old..old.....OLD REALLY OLD tool which the labels & stuff have worn off. My dad has found this in our old house, used for pumping water out of a fountain or something. I'm not sure if this could do for my small tank, roughly 1/3 of a metre long, 20 cm high and 20 cm width. Would this probably take away my neon tetras and tiger barbs? :*)

:hi: to the forums, as for the tiger barbs question, I would go for as big a tank as you can afford/fit in your room. This gives you more room to play with in the future, and also Tigers should be kept in groups of at least 6, but preferably 8 or more. I have 8, and they are the most friendly and playful fish you could want.
Good luck with them!!!!

Hi newbie? :)

Welcome to TFF. :hi: I'm glad you will be joining us.

I'll move your thread to a forum where you will be more likely to get answers to your questions. :D

:flex: ♂ I agree with the other poster... go with a bigger tank. 2-5 gal is ridiculous for freshwater tropical fish like barbs. Get at least 10 gal, hopefully more. You will probably soon get bored with a small tank of only tiger barbs. Get the biggest tank you can afford, have room for, and properly maintain.
As for adding and removing water, very simple... for removing use one of the inexpensive siphon type devices that are readily available, and a 2.5 to 5 gal.
plastic bucket. For adding, use the same bucket. It should be a new, clean one, and not used for anything but your aquarium.
There is no way I would use that "really old" thing your dad found in old house.
You don't know what it's been used for. Don't take a chance when you can get a new siphon tool and plastic bucket so cheap.
