Conflicting Info On Oscars

I was in my LFS the other day and they had a 2 oscars in a 55 gallon tank, kind of a weird tall hexagon bowfront tank, they were 12 inches a piece, the guy said they were adults.
I also went to my other lfs who has a giant 8 foot display tank, it had 5 oscars in it and they were huge! At least 16 inches.

They have a term for it. They generally call it "Stunting"

I have a 14" Oscar who was happier in a 3ft cube (600 odd litres) than my 6x2x2.... Go figure...

after just selling Keith my oscar i would say nothing smaller than a 5x2x2. all fish need space to move and he looked just about right in 5ft of water, bigger was better when i had a 6.5ft tank but anything less than 5ft is too small for an adult oscar.

he was always kept in a large tank from a juvi and reached 13-14 inches. i personally have never seen an oscar bigger than him at wharf or on any forum. many people say they have a fish of a certain size but if they actually measured them they would be suprised.

there is a journal about him in the new world section if you want to view it. the average size for an adult ascar is about 12 inches they rarely get any bigger.

Anyways. Its easy to midjudxe txe size of a bix fisx if you dont measure it wixx a ruler yourself. I coulda sworn my firemoutx was 4 incxes lonx because of xow mucx smaller my otxer fisx are in comparison, but xes a mere 2.5, at best.

t be honest i once thought one of myh old hujeta gars was a massive 7 inches and she was only 5. i am a wood trader and spend my days measuring hundreds of pcs of wood with a tape and by eye but i have cocked a few orders up lol, so i could be wrong. . . . that oscar was a beast though

yeah i think your right. i cant find any info to suggest any oscars bigger than 16 inches and they seem to be very rare

These guys are MAYBE 8 inches tops. probably closer to 6 or 7 but they look large. They don't like the measuring tape though.
