Compatability

Platy - Fine but will breed loads unless you get all males, no females at all.
Tetra (neaon and green) - Neons and (Green Neons?) aren't very hardy at all.
Molly - Fine but will breed loads unless you get all males, no females at all.
Angel - Personally I wouldn't get any with this tank.
Guppy - Fine but will breed loads unless you get all males, no females at all.
Pleco - Which type? Most will be way to big.
Gourami - Which type? Although you can cater for most.
Loach - Clown/Paki/Kuhli - No clowns or pakis, they will be way too big, kuhlis are good in a group.
Barb - Again, which type? Most barbs will fin nip and some will get to big.
Betta (Jap fighting fish- 1 of) - No this is like gambling.
Danio - Which type? Danios are very fast and can be aggressive, this tank is probably too small.
Peacock goby - No clue, probably not suitable, could be though.
blue ram - Unless you had pristine water and peaceful tank mates, don't get these. They need pH of 7 or less and very soft water, they also need NO ammonia or nitrite and little nitrate. Easy to kill if you don't look after them.

Aww they sound nice.
Do they live completely in water or do I have to have places where they can come out and have a little sit down and a rest?

Nope, they are completely aquatic.

They do need careful feeding. Their food instincts aren't quite on par with fish so it takes them a while to work it out.

Thanks for all the replies.

I posted a new topic talking about my LFS and another one I went to. Was really pleased with the latter, I have been able to disregard some of my ideas for a community, think of some new ones and then TRY to narrow it down, hehe. So with your help and the help from the new fish shop, I'm well on my way :)

Perhaps, if you are interested in rams, you should consider bolivian's rather than blues. As was stated by Luketendo, blues are very delicate fish and require pristine water, low pH and soft water to really thrive - also any fuctuations in any of these areas as well as temperature will not be good for them. Bolivians on the other hand are much hardier and tollerant of a larger range of water conditions. They get slightly bigger (maixing out around 3") than their counterparts but in a 2 foot tank you could keep a pair easily. Just make sure you get a male and a female and hope they pair because - like all cichlids - they are territorial fish and two males would probably fight. This being said, since they are dwarf cichlids they are pretty mild and any squables between a pair rarely lead to damage - it's mostly all for show. I too wanted blues because of their colors, but unless you are willing to invest in RO water and have experience with keeping dellicate fish and specific water reqierments, they will not thrive. Go for bolivians - their just as beautiful, hardier and have wonderful personalities. HTH.

Thanks for that. I just checked them out, they look pretty nifty :)

I'm just trying to narrow down all the choices I have come up with today so they may even be on my shortlist! :good:
