Hey all..

I've finally decided to strip and re-stock one of my tanks, but I'd like to keep my pair of oh-so-nearly breeding clownfish and their anemone. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on adding a fuzzy dwarf lionfish into the tank with them.
Would this be a good or bad idea? I've always wanted to keep a fuzzy dwarf and needed to know whether or not i had to get rid of my clowns :( The clowns are adult, and fuzzy dwarf would be juvi. Only other things in the tank are general clean up crew but no shrimp.

Cheers.

Rather risky thing to do, it's more like 'when will the lionfish eat the clowns' as opposed to will it eat the clowns  They have huge mouths

Yep in general lionfish will eat anything that is smaller than them (and it doesnt have to be that much smaller than them to do it).

Welcome down to the salty section as well :hi: not seen you posting here before.

So fuzzy dwarf is kinda out of the question unless i get rid of the clowns? ahh pooo :(

And I'm asking for my hubby :) i normally keep to my betta pages :p but he has a random question sometimes so I do it for him ^^

Any advice on other bigger fish he could go for with the clowns. Before he set a bigger tank up and did a house move for some of them, used to have a green mandarin pair, dot dash blenny, radiant wrasse, a shrimp/goby pair and a blue/yellow blenny. But most of them got moved to the bigger tank, or sadly passed on :(

Yeah depends on tank size. It sounds like its a fish only with liverock? Any plans for corals or will it stay as a FOWLR (this will effect what you can have too).

I've got corals in there already, always have had.. I've got main toadstool and small frag from that, medusa, bubble coral, button polyps, zoas, clam (which could be put in the other tankif needed) urrr... i think thats about it.

I'm in two minds, as to having seahorse/pipe fish, OR having a simple soft coral reef, but either way, if lionfish is a no no, then i want to keep the clowns :)

As it stands in my room at the mo, I've got a big full on reef system I;m setting up using GHL kits an' all.. so all i wanted to do with the red sea is have somethin more simple and "fun" in a respect. :)

Well, what sort of fish do you like?

I love the scarlet hawk, such a funny little chap - but your snails and shrimps need to be big to keep one as they will eat them!
My sister has a lovely purple fire fish - they jump but you are ok as you have a lid
The Flasher Wrass which Ben has just bought is gorgeous - one day I will have me one of those
Maybe a goby of some sort - yellow watchman
Royal Gramma - BigC has a pretty one

I suppose it's all according what sort of fish you like - my sister likes the lionfish so maybe your tastes are similar. She also has a yellow assessor who is pretty but you don't see many of those around.

In my tank I have a pair of tank bred clowns, a dracula goby (awsome but rare), scarlet hawk fish and my lovely Milly Molly Mandy who is a Mandarin - no more fish for me, i'm full up

How long have you had the Nem and can we have a picture? What sort is it?

I have seen people keep dwarf lions with clowns successfully. It really depends on the size of both fish.

I'd say get the fuzzy, i have a 3 inch volitan in my 20 gallon reef with a gold banded maroon, damsel fish, cleaner shrimp, corals, etc... The only thing is if the clowns breed, their fry will be eaten fast.

 a Volitan in a 20 gallon tank, he may only be 3 inches at the moment but he will grow to around 15 - 16 inches and needs at least an 18" wide tank to allow him to turn, IMHO he needs at least a 400 litre tank, I really don't think your other fish will be around for long  I would advise moving him pretty soon before its to late.

Oh lordy  what are your plans for moving him - as he will need to be moved very, very soon
