After a few losses, now find myself with small groups of Danios, Barbs, Cardinals and Harlequins plus one solitary Leopard Cory. My question is , should I introduce a pal for the Cory. He used to be in a pair who always seemed to sit together on the tank floor and do very little. He is been the only one for about 6 months now. Would a new cory be a good thing or could it upset the original one. Also, if introducing another, should it be just one leopard cory?

Corys should always be kept in a group so yes you should ideally be adding at least another 3-5

Hi there

How big is your tank? i would add more cories, they do much better in groups and your solo cory will enjoy the company :)

Hi homerhotspur :)

Take a look at corys in their natural habitat. You will see why the best companion fish for them is always more corys. :D

Well, it is clear that people think I should add at least another couple. I am still unsure , however, whether I should be adding 2 of the same species of Cory or whether 2 different cory species will be ok? Would this run the increased risk of a 2 against 1 situation?

I would personally add the same species, even though they will hang out, they do better with their own kind of species. :)

If you had 1 of 1 type and 2 of another you may still find the odd one will be left on its own.
