Hey I want to start an African Cichlid tank with an albino red tail shark, Kuhli Loaches and Emerald Cory Catfish in a 50 Gallon tank. I was thinking of some peacocks maybe or some assorted african cichlids. And some multi shell dwelling cichlids.

The loaches and sharks, and corries are a no-no in an african tank. Try to avoid buying from the assorted african tank as they usually are hybrids. Don't put the multies in with larger africans as they have a possibility to be harassed. I am not sure about the tank size for peaccks, but I would say that it would be fine in htat tank. You could make it a peacock tank, or your most popular option, an Mbuna tank.

Aren't their any peacocks peaceful enough to go with those bottom dwellers? Also what is the male to female ratio with peacocks and how many should go in a 50 gallon? And I meant albino rainbow shark.

No matter what type of shark, it would not appriciate the type of waterconditions that african cichlids like. There is not a real ratio of male to female when it comes to an african cichlid tank. I would say that you could fit 15 Mbuna in a 50 gallon. NOt sure about peacocks, but it should be around the same. You want to over stock when it comes to most african cichlids to spread out agression.

Ummm the stocking density of the fish would be dependant on his tank dimensions not his gallonage. If its a 4ft by 1ft footprint then he probably be looking at more 20 fish of approx 5-6 inch in size. OFC also depending if he over filtering at a 8-10 turn over as well.

I was thinking of something more like a 3 foot, as that is what I saw at an aquarium auction and thought it was the normal size for a 50 gallon. I'm sorry. My bad.

Well there is no bad as the guy ihas not posted dimensions so you gone witha guestimate. a 4ft by 1ft by 1.5ft is approx 45 usg. But you can also have a 3ft 50 usg if it was tall. Thus why I did not guess because you never know what the guy has LOL Also you do not know if he working in imp of us Gallons, if it was imperial then his tank would be larger than a us one. Why I prefer using litres where possible. Because it more standard.

To OP for a better idea of your stocking density we would need to know your tank dimension and if your over filtering.

I assumed, and that was wrong of me. You are right aout the imperial gallon part. I usually use US gallons. When I think of US gallons to liters, I multiply by 4 and liters to US gallons I divide by 4. Lol I learned that by looking at a soda bottle and a milk jug. It is slightly off, but it is, for the most part, accurate.

I was looking to establish a breeding colony of sorts with more peaceful african cichlids that are colorful. What do you suggest? And which would tolerate the kuhlis, shark, and cories? Its about 3 1/2 feet almost 2 feet high. about a 60 filter.

I don't think you understand the water requirements that african cichlids need. Once you have researched their water requirements, then compare them to what your fish thaht you have now like.

My main question is, would the fish I have now be able to survive with a colony of less aggressive african cichlids if the water parameters are right?

i would say probably not, even peaceful african cichlids are really aggressive compared to normal community fish.

Lets clear things up.

1. African Cichlids need a pH of 7.8-9.0. THe fish you have now will HATE that. They also like their water with ahigher kH and gH than the fish you have now do.
2. There aren't any African cichlids that aren't agressive. Any cichlid for that matter. Some are quite peaceful, until breeding, and then they get sort of agressive. But those are SA cichlids.
3. The fish you have now like softer water. 6.8-7.5 pH. They will not survive in such harsh water conditions, espically with agressive african cichlids.

Hope I cleared some things up stating that you CAN NOT have the fish you have now in with African Cichlids, mabye a pair of rams, or apistogramma, but NOT african cichlids.

I appoligize if I sounded harsh, as I was just trying to set things straight. Thank you for your time and have a good day.
