Common Pleco Changes Colour Randomly?

Does any one know of a common Plec changing from his usual grey colour to a very pale sandy colour? I thought at first it was because he got a bit cooler when i did a water change...but he does it randomly at different times of the day and Im not sure if its normal or not. The colour changes dont last long, about 5 or 10 mins, the only way i can think to describe it is its like he is blushing-but blushing pale! it sort of creeps over his body...any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi, they do this when they are stressed. As it changes back to normal again this is almost certainly what it is. It usually happens if they have nowhere to hide or sometimes when you do a water change. HTH.

Hi Morgan, thanks for your reply. Oh dear-stress. I am in the process of re-homing my Featherfin catfish which i believe is probably the cause of Plec's stress. He does have his favorite hiding places, so hopefully when he is the only big fish in the tank he can live happily with out changing colour.

Your feather fin will probably be the case cuz they are evil towards plec's, i had a large featherfin a couple of months ago and it actually killed one of my plec, so as soon as thats gone it will be more comfortable in the tank,
