What is the common name for this fish? can't find any info on it, other than possibly called a "Honeycomb Plec"? A stunning one on ebay at the minute.

They have also been listed as worm line ... all though wormline is traditionally L121 if i remeber correctly..... other than honeycomb though, i doubt they will have many other common names.

Common names are rubbish anyway.

'Zebra fish' can mean anything from a danio to a Malawi cichlid, whereas Hypancistrus faveolus refers to that fish, and that fish only, in every country in the world.

I think it's about time the fishkeeping world embraced the binomial system in the same way gardeners do :good:

I agree FM, but unfortunately, people dont, and more information pops up using common names on google. possibly rehoming my two common plecs soon, so was looking into smaller varieties to replace the two with one, this one looks interesting, but no definitive info on them, guessing there realy not that common in the hobby?

There not rare in the hobby, i would say less desirable hence why you will probably have to order rather than actually be lucky enough to find one locally. I'm not sure if they have been bred and if not or if they are hard this may put breeders off them, they are reasonably large as an adult fish and having a group to try and breed would require a reasonably large tank... again this maybe a reason why they are not so readily available. They shouldn't be hard to obtain through order though.
