I know that I SHOULD get those ones that are listed for aquariums/fish safe, but a small bottle costs a fortune which just doesnt fit my budget.

What I have is a common Liquid Plant food bottle.

Guaranteed Minimum Analysis

Total Nitrogen 10%
Available Phosphate 15%
Soluble Potash 10%
Iron 0.10%
Manganese 0.05%
Zinc 0.05%

Is this okay in small amouts? I figure that its better than nothing atleast...
My plants are growing decent without any plant food/fertilizers, I just want them to look a bit better and grow a bit faster.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Not a good idea. Garden and household plant foods nearly always contain ammonium compounds. If you are concerned about cost then you could always make up your own ferts. Take a look at the Estimative Index pinned thread to find out what you need or do a Google search for PMDD.

A small bottle costs a fortune, but lasts for ages. For my 15-gallon, a £8 bottle of SeaChem flourish would last me about a year.
