Well, I found around 100 African Knife fish eggs, i know that they have been spawning about 2 - 3 monthes ago, so the Male is Guarding them with his life lol, and has killed a Blue Gourmi, I don't know what todo.

Tank is 350 Litres, i think thats 95 Gallons.

So what shall i do? remove all African Knife fish into my 90L until the fish have finished eating the eggs or shall i just leave them, Atleast i think the African Knife fish killed the blue gourmi, Before the Gourmi died he was very healthy and had good Colouring.

I've bread them before but no deaths that time, He eventully gave in to the Angel fish the last time, he left them eat them after 4 days of guarding, Probaly could of been the size of the angels and he wouldn't of stood a chance against them, My angels are the biggest i've ever seen lol.

How about leaving the African Knives in the 350l and moving all other fish to the 90l? What are the budding parents current tankmates?

What other fish are in the tank? it might be best to remove all the other fish to the 90L if there only small and then the knife fish have to 95G to themselfs to avoid any more aggression.

I have a 100 Gallon that i have setup, But its on fishless cycle, 4 Big angel fish, 2 Albeino Shark fish, Blue Gourmi (other one got killed), 5 Corys, So yeah i move them to the 90l, it takes about 6 - 7 days for the eggs to hatch, then il move the fry to a 15 Gallon and put the Fish back in, the Angels look alittle big for the 90l. I do hope these Fry do hatch and its successful.
The Angel fish have had a go just now at chasing the Male off.

I didn;t know these bred in the home aquarium,!! well done

Keep us updated with the eggss :good:

Sounds good to me. You can use some of the media from the 95G and put it in the 100 and it will be ready cycled. Then you can leave the fry in with the parents for a little longer.

Thanks, doing that right away. Thanks for the advise, Il keep you all updated on how the Knifefish are doing.

They are doing good, althought my Cameras batteries are dead, so il have to go and get some more today if i get time.

There really isn't that much about their breeding habits on the internet. All it says is that it's rare for them to breed in the aquarium. You should document it. Sort of what happens and your water conditions. Might enable others to breed them in the future!

Okay.

Tank size: 350l
Alot of hiding places (Caves, rocks, Plants)
Temperature: 26c - 27c
Tank mates

So they were Spawning at the info above.

They Laid their eggs in the same info above too.
They laid their eggs in a Cave made of Slat

Today they have started to Wonder off, They must know because they know the tank is empty, althought if i go near the tank they will go straight back to the eggs, so they are still interested. lol

Il post every day to update you on whats going on.

Cool cheers, It's just really interesting? So do they lay the eggs on the roof of the cave or the floor or what? :)
