Hello folks, I was wondering if any of you gourami experts could help me out?

My male red flame honey gourami seems to be quite faint in the colour definition department. From pictures that I have seen He should have a black head and partially black body with a yellow bottom fin and a yellow top fin and then red at the back of his body.

But my male is mostly all red, with the black bits being a faint grey kinda red. The bottom fin is starting to go yellow and the top fin is almost a clear white colour.

I was thinking that it might be that he is a bit young and will develop in time. He has got darker in the last month or so, but how long should it take to get to full colour?

I feed them on normal flakes, freeze dried brine shrimp and freeze dried blood worms.

cheers folks :fun:

well he is in there with a female red honey gourami, she is very bright red/orange with a silver face and bright blue dorsal fin.

So he has the female to wooo aswell.

Thats him getting quite a bit of colour out now, he is starting to go really dark
