I thinking of getting some Endler's. I'm curious do you know of any colorful non agressive cichlids that can go in a 10 gallon community tank?

I like the German blue rams but im not sure if 10 gal is enough... they're in the fish index if i were you id give them a look see.

10 gallons should work for 1, maybe a pair depending on the stocking for many dwarf cichlids and/or rams. It really depends what else and how much of the others you plan on stocking.

edit: maybe asking htis in the NW cichlid section might help a bit. :D :good: :D

Ya id say one would be good. 2 of your understocked right now and maintain regular water changes and have adequete filtration

Most killifish are pretty small and have nice colorings though they are not cichlids. I also agree with the GBR's.

Dwarf cichlids are all quite aggressive except for the Rams and grow quite large....they should also be kept as a couple if it is a Ram or in a Harem for the agassizi. I really would not recommend only keeping 1 of these as alone they are quite miserable. Also not sure if your Endlers would survive in the long run as they are quite small...the babies definately will not have a chance.

Just my opinion... you can read up a lot about the proper keeping of dwarf cichlides on Apistogramma.com

How about a harem Dario Dario? Check my blog below there is a foto of one at the top of the page at the moment

Good luck in your search

I have a 30 gallon, so maybe I can put it with a mate in there.

 , I'm sorry but whats your definition of large & aggressive, LOL I think you need to learn about jaguar, wolf and african cichlids

Blue rams, usually very lucky to get to 2"/5cm, I have seen a large strain but their colour is shocking
Bolivian Rams 7cm or nearly 3" is a good adult size
Apistogramma vary eg panda/nijesseni less than 5cm/2" to 7.5/3" for cacatuoide and agassizii
Laetcara & keyhole do reach the 10cm but aggressive?

Most dwarfs are peaceful as long as their smallish territories are catered to, but may become a little agressive when breeding, part of the standards for consideration as dwarf cichlid is agression levels

We are talking about a 10 gallon aquarium so that is what I am referring to...They are far too large for a 10 gallon is what I am saying...you have to consider their territory and give the females a chance to get a break from the males...

As for aggression..yes they can get pretty aggressive it is something people should be aware of...it is like with Betta's some are more aggressive than others so again a larger tank is needed for the other fish to be able to stay out of their territory. They are also not an option for peeps who don't like some of their fish to be chased away a lot and nipped at a little...

I have lost corydoras, Neon's, Red Nosed Rummy's and Platy's to both Rams and Cacatouides and that was in 35 Gallons

So yes in my opinion Apisto's are among the more agressive fish in a community tank

Sheesh try and give a explanatory answer and I get laughed at....

Can i just make a suggestoin the checkerboard lyretail cichlid is suitable they are peaceful and only grow to 4 cm max
