While browsing for potential fish for my upcoming community tank, I fell in love with pictures of peppered corys, but these particular ones had a strong blue tint, which along with the dark peppered patches made them look like navy camouflage or something. i decided that they were among the best looking fish i've ever seen (IMO of course) and started searching for them. every peppered cory i've seen tho has a dull gray or slightly yellow tint.

i've very new to corydoras in general, so forgive my newbieness, but do these even come in a variety of colors? or was it just lighting that made them appear that way?

i'm going for a colorful tank (neons, endlers, etc), and i definitely want at least a couple corys in, so what may be some other good options? will be good to know anyways because i'm not sure i can find peppered anyways

I think you will probably find it was more the lighting than them having a tint of blue, some ive seen from certain angles look the same but in general the day to day colouring tends to be coloure matched as you mentioned.

It's hard to suggest cory's for you without the planned setup, some like it warm, some prefer it a little cooler. Best bet would be have a look round and then come back with the actual planned stocking and the temp you plan on keeping the tank at and we can try and advise you further :)

ok that makes sense (all replies)

as for setup:

25 gal 36"x10"x16"h
sand
not sure of temp yet, havent decided all stocking yet
water is on the hard, alkaline side

not set on any fish yet (just started cycling), but have interest in the following:
- harlequin rasboras
- endlers
- guppies
- neons

obviously not going to fit all of those, especially with shoals being necessary (which i'd like to have anyways)

would be nice i think to have some corys to dwell on the bottom, making the choice of sand even more worth it, although i'm worried about them having to be in groups too - not quite sure how this math is going to work out!

i will do more research into the fish that i already have interest in (for temp and ph preference etc) and will also see what kind of cory is available at the lfs's. thanks =)
