a couple of my colombian tetras have blackpatches on their sides. it doesnt seem to bother them and its only on a couple out of the 12 i have. non of the other fish in the tank have it either....

water stats are fine.

has any one else had this with colombians?

if so is it bad?

not one of mine as they wont keep still..... but it looks like this

does it look like black cotton wool? or is it a discolouring of the skin?

it just looks like some one has painted the fish.... not pertruding or abnormal in any other way just the colour change.

Could it be some form of stress colouration. Has anything changed in the tank recently.
no its defo not stress. ive tried to find out on the net what it is but it seems quite common but a bit of a mystery thing.....
