I've been reading for months about people and their successes with colloidal silver. As my bettas were always pretty healthy, I knocked on wood and put that information into the vault that is my brain. Recently I noticed two of my bettas had shredded tail fins. I could not see signs of fungus or visible illness, and it was only the tails that were affected. So I thought maybe I was seeing the dreaded tail biting. Either way, I decided this was a chance to give silver a trial run. So I began by treating the delta first. Not only has his tail greatly improved in the first week, but he's more lively and feisty than I think he's ever been. Even my fiance, who basically ignores the fish (he's of the mind that he'd rather I'm bringing home a new fish every week than a new pair of shoes but beyond that he doesn't care  ) noticed the increased activity of this little guy. So seeing that success, I started treating the crowntail. I also used it on two other crowntails, one that was looking a little shredded on the tail, and one that was just lethargic lately. So now I have four very perky bettas in the kitchen all getting their silver treatment. Thankfully the other 12 don't need to join them, the counter isn't big enough. But I just wanted to share my success and add to the singing of praises for colloidal silver.

Now for the question. I noticed that those that I'm treating seem to have really perked up and are much more active and feisty than usual. I was wondering if its safe enough to use on a somewhat more regular basis? Maybe at a lower dose or at a lower ppm? As a supplement. Or could that lead to some sort of harmful build up of the mineral in their system? Any thoughts?

Perfect timing MAM! I too have a CS question. I found some 100ppm silver in the UK, I just wanted to check if you guys thought it was the real deal. It is completely clear, as in water coloured, no golden tinge at all. And it tastes really bitter. Unless I take it to a lab and get it tested I don't know if I'm getting water that someone's added nail polish remover too! I thought it was meant to be slightly yellow, but I have nothing to reference it against!

Ditto with MAM's dosage enquiry!

Thanks (and sorry for the hijack MAM)

Sarah

Yes, it is. When I have plenty to go around I will usually put it in my bucket water at like 5 drops per 5 gallon bucket every other week or so as preventive maintenance. And I see the same exact result...the fish are three times as active as usual.

Sarah~ it shouldn't taste sooo bitter, especially at such a low PPM. It should be virtually tasteless. And also at 100 ppm it should have a tinge of color. Even the 50 ppm that I occassionally buy has a light brown color. Keep shopping around before you invest in that one. Are there any health food/ vitamin suppliers on the net for the UK? You may have better luck there.

Thanks Wuv! I think everyone will get a little dose tonight then when I do waterchanges.
