I am now just disgusted at the quality photos I'm posting on this forum... I have a digital Samsung 8.1 mega pixel, but not getting the desired results...

Quick answer needed, cause I'm going to "Bid or Buy" and place bids on anything... I just want a better cam!!!!... (I've seen some good photos from (for instance) Tucon... if you see this please advise!... I wanna place a bid within the next hour.

your best bet is to get a digital slr the megapixels dont matter as that is only the size you can blow the pics up to!

I have a nikon D40 which is only 5 megapxels

have you seen any cams on there? maybe post some links and we can give a verdict :p

ps you can get things called macro lenses that you can attach to the cam lense which enable close ups, has to be good light though!

Actually MewMewMewMew... that is a very good suggestion.... I'll go to Bid or buy now and see what is on offer and then ask for an opinion... See ye all in a minute!

Yeah, def go slr. May take some time to get used to all the different settings etc but it's worth it.

Then just choose the right lens.

I too use a d40, normally with a 70-300mm lens with macro mode (1:2) which I find suits me really well for most things from fish to other animals, to people, live music etc.

Well, I just did a search on there for "Close-up camera"... and the following 2 came up.... Are they any good, or should I search for slr....

3) Connect Paris to a printer using the USB cable in exactly the same way as you would connect to a PC for direct printing. No software, no drivers, no hassle.
4) Paris can be set as a PC camera to act as a high-quality, mobile webcam. Allow others to see every detail of you in clear 640x480 format. What better way to video chat or record videos of yourself?

• Face detection: Paris's face detection functionality will provide amazingly clear and sharp images of a person's face. If you need every picture to perfectly capture all your expressions, then look no further.

• Comfortable grip: Paris' palm grip comes in a fully rubberized tactile for a smooth and comfortable feeling. No sweaty palms, no dry- skin feeling, in fact it feels so good you won't want to put it down!

Oh what are you like Ludwig, slow down and take your time - do you really want to learn all about SLR camera's or do you want a good quality point and shoot (like me  ) - for some reason my head will just not get round SLR cameras!!

Well (somewhere in this topic) it was suggested that I go SLR, and since there are 2 running at the moment at a bargain - IMO... (I got 3 hours left on one of them to decide).... I know zulch about cameras, that's why I'm asking

This is the Option 1... the Sony........(Bid closing in 2hours)

And this is the Nikon (bid closing tomorrow)
424919-75457112-b.jpg

Both are at the same price currently....

for basic photos you dont need an SLR, i have a fugifilm S5600 and its a fantastic camera, would highly recommend it. Its quite bulky but can take some fantastic photos, more than whats needed just for a couple of pics of fish!

With so little time left, I went ahead and placed a bid on the Sony.... if I lose the bid, at least I'll have the Nikon to bid on tomorrow.... (R2,000 - approximately $290)- I think it is a bargain.

OK so there.... Bid closed & I'm the proud new owner of the Sony.... Only hope it was the right choice.

Gulp, glad i'm not married to you - everything has to be now, now, now :p with me, its 'no, lets just wait and do some research first', boring I know!

Hope you like your new camera and am looking forward to seeing the outcome - maybe someone will offer you a crash course on slr camers

Well Sef.... I trully hope it was the right choice... The Nikon closes tonight and I'm tempted to place a bid on it as well.... just in case it is a better choice...

My Sony should arrive on Wednesday, so ...... you're all in for a boring Photo splash of anything from my garden to my ingrown toe-nails.... Wow!!... I'm looking forward to this cam....
