@colin, and anyone else, help please! Worms found in tank...

Just a harmless aquatic worm, most likely Tubifex worms. Means your tank is healthy. They come in on the roots of plants and eat anything organic in the substrate (fish food, fish waste, etc).

Camallanus worms only grow to about 10mm (less than 1/2 inch) maximum.

Detritus worms are usually white or cream and grow to about 6mm (1/4 inch).

Thank you, thank you so much! I had to be sure, you know? Was racking my brain thinking "surely, surely I'd have seen worm symptoms in my fish by now?" but still, wanted to check with people smarter than me!

THE WEATHER IS TOO HOT I CAN'T SLEEP WWWWAAAAAAHHHH NO WHERE ELSE TO POST THIS SO JUST SHOUTING INTO THE VOID ON A RESOLVED THREAD OF MINE

LOL the weather is too hot in the UK. ROFLMAO

You silly people don't know what hot is. Try 47C during the day and 30C at night. And our temperatures are measured in the shade, not the sun.

Go buy yourself a portable/ room air-conditioner and use that when it gets "too hot" for you :)

*Wilts* I know you tough crocodile dundee types can tolerate blistering temps, but we're WEAK AND SPOILED by usually damp or at least temperate weather! We're not used to the extremes! No one has air con!

I have a standing fan, which is listlessly blowing the same temperature air at me. No use at all! Seriously considering dragging the dog's paddling pool in here so I can sit in it.

Okay, 30C at night is twice as hot as it is here right now...
How do you prevent yourself just bursting into flames?

Most people use inefficient air-conditioners and heaters and complain about their power bills. I just let my body adapt to the hot and cold. After 2 weeks of suffering the body changes and tolerates the hot or cold. Then while everyone else is walking around in shorts and a t-shirt complaining it's hot (it's only 35C), I am wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt going "it's not that hot".

Same deal in winter. Let the body adapt to the cold while everyone else runs around in jeans, jumpers, jackets, gloves and a beanie, and I walk around in jeans and a t-shirt saying "it's 7 degrees, that's fine". When it gets to 3C, then it's cold.

But get a decent quality portable room air-conditioner and use that.

That's just not the British way. We only get maybe a week of sweltering (by our standards) weather, so we get by with cool cloths and maybe a fan, complain a lot about the heat, then immediately forget about it until next year. :D

With global warming you lot will get more "hot" weather and it will last longer.

Other options including hanging a wet/ damp tea towel over the front of the fan so the air blows through the wet towel. Standing under a cold shower while in clothes. Then going for a walk. As you move around the water evaporates and cools you down.
