Do you have any clove oil and vodka, sleeping tablets.

Also known people to overdose there fish with anti internal bacteria med, so sorry I no how you feel it's awful.

If you feel the need to euthanize him, you can also use benzocaine if you can't find clove oil. Benzocaine is the active ingredient in products such as Orajel and Anbesol (for toothache pain).

Sorry for what you are going through with him.

thats ok :(

i imagine he would have to be separated from the others (obviously!)

i probably cant get any of that apart from the overdose of medicine.

if i moved him to a spare tank this would probably be the best option as the tank is only small and imagine the overdose would be quick?

thanks for all your help.

he passed on this afternoon without any help

he's in a better place now...

Sorry for your loss, it's hard at times fishkeeping when you have to look after sick fish.

Other fish can't catch septicemia, but dropsy not usually but some say different, if the fish hasn't died in the main tank I wouldn't worry to much.

all the fish have been moved out of the main tank asap into a small temp tank until the main tank gets a complete clean out and redone tomorrow.

one of the fish is acting strange by hanging round the bottom of the tank and sometimes only using one of his front fins to swim with instead of both.

what does this kind of behaviour indicate?

Hanging around the bottom do you mean laying on subtrate on it's side.

not on his side - just sat on the bottom upright.

he appears to be getting over it now - maybe it was just stress from being moved?

if he looks ill today, he's going to stay in the small tank whilst the others go into the big one again, so we can monitor him for a few days.
