if anyone has any tips please tell me so i can make it work properly

it wll be 120cm x 120cm x 51cm high which is 194 us gallons or 734 litres

ill be using 12-15mm glass 15mm for sides, 12mm for the base and 8mm for the tabletop
if anyone has any suggestions please send them my way :good:

Looks like a really fun project rewlyn!

I think it is a pretty straight forward project.

The only thing that I would say it to make the base (under the tank) part plenty big enough for filters and every thing and what not.

You may or may not want to rig up some sort of lighting?

Other than that, don't accidentally kick it...lol.

lighting will only be on at night(pointless having one on during the day for a tank like this) ive ordered 2 sets of 8 LED lunar moonlights on ebay they should be here in a week or 2, they are for my tanks atm but when new tank up and runing ill put them onto it and order more for my standard tank
how many cichlids yo think i could safely put in, eventhough if i want to put more in i just have to upgrade the filter

that is the coolest idea i have ever seen. i think im going to convice my partner to make one!

i like these a lot, but with 3, 6ft sons in the house (thats= 3 pairs of size 10 feet up on there), they are not even an option,
you`ll have to keep a journel on here so we can see what your up to,looks like a great project tho

will the whole top come off for maintence?
oh and how much do you think it will cost to build? including lighting etc

thats 60 baby feet you could always tell them to move out and then they could build it for you, like a christmas present
yes the top will come completly off to make it easier, and the cost well il post them up too, ill inform all as i go 1 day you might see 1 piece of glass then a week later it might be 2

 they would need to move out to do it, as i dont trust them near the dinner plates at washing up time, nevermind a sheet of glass or several  ,one day when they have flown the nest, ill live down a country lane with no doorbell no phone and a fish tanks all over the house.....well i can dream

hope this goes really well for you, and im certainly looking forward to seeing it progress :)

Would it not be better to have inlet and outlet coming up through the base- just for aesthetic reasons mind!

But yeah it could be very nice (and expensive  )

Wow, will be following your thread. Shelaghfishface, I know how you feel, but in my house it's me and my partner who are the klutz's. The only reason my present tank is safe, because it's high up and on a really sturdy sideboard. :hyper:
