Coca Cola in the tank..... whats it going to do?

Man that horrible, and the hachet fish are the coolest fish. You would think that in that big of a tank, that litle amount of soda would do much damgae since it would be so diluted. Sorry about that man

i myself have heard of so many freak accidents on this forum, that it has made me parinoid!
like the other day my budgie was "helping my feed his fish" hovering above the tank and he pooped in the water,
so i grabbed a net and frantically went to scoop it out but once again pickle (my budgie) tried to "help" and grapped ahold of the net as i put it in the water
i sort of dipped him half into the tank by accident and then began to panic wondering if birds have any "toxins" on their feathers/feet

i'm such a nerd
pickle thought it was great
he ran back and fourth on my shoulder popping his head making guinea pig noises
what a geek
he's into everything

Hi jeffrey :)

I'm so sorry about your loss. :byebye:

But what I don't understand is why you didn't immediately do a complete water change to save your fish. :dunno:

When your tank water is polluted, the best thing to do is to get it out and replace it with lots of fresh and clean water. Now, you still have to do that and since the coke has been in there awhile it might have killed your beneficial bacteria too.

So, get out your test kits, and after you have done a good cleaning and gravel vacuuming, and flushed out all the bad water, start testing until you are sure your tank is on the right track again.

Good luck and don't let this get you down. Things will soon be as good as new. :D

So I was carriing one of them new frige mate coca cola things down the stars and well it ripped and 4 cars came out, only one opened after it hit the tile stairs and cause of where my tank is when the can bounced it landed right on the canopyand drained the can befor I could get to it, from the little amount on the floor and wall I would say that at least 2/3 of the can went into the tank.
thats some bad luck! sorry bout the fish!

May I suggest you go buy a bullet proof, air tight, well grounded tank?

sorry about your loss :byebye:

I honestly didnt know what it would do, and the hatchets hate changes in the water, all new water probably would have killed them, for all I know the amount of new water I added is what did kill them. They have always been the most picky fish I owned.

they were really the only ones I was worried about.

I tested everything again this morning and everything is good, the nitrate errr nirite errr the one plants like, has dropped a bit. (got php on the mind right now)
and I dont have any ph tests anymore.... and its the one I need too.

Thanks for the support though, I still cant belive what the odds are that it would make it through the railing.... like damn.

Still have an empty spot at the top of the tank though.

I have installed a bather plug with the braker biult in and changed all the breakers.
but the odds of this happening again, I hope are very very slim.
