Does anyone know what is wrong with my guppy? He is swimming very strangely, breathing hard, and hiding either behind the filter or in the gravel. He is a year and 8 months old and never had any problems before. This is my favorite guppy and was difficult to breed, so any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Water Parameters:
Ph- 7.4
Nitrites-0 ppm
Nitrates-15 ppm
Ammonia-0 ppm
Gh-150-200 ppm
Kh- 180 ppm

(I'm working on pictures/videos. The videos don't want to upload for some reason).

Although i say the age thing with caution.
Me personally get around 2-3 years out of Guppy fish.
But i know others that have kept them 4 years

I'm not sure; his tail has some splits in it but that sometimes happens and heals on its own. His swimming is really funny though. He almost looks like he is shivering and swims recklessly into things.

I forgot to mention that I started a Maracyn 2 treatment on him yesterday.

what does its poop look like?

first aid for livebearers is clean the tank and add salt.

clean glass.
clean filter.
75% water change and gravel clean every day for a week.
add salt, 2 heaped tablespoons per 20 litres. keep salt in tank for at least 2 weeks.

Normal, but he isnt eating anymore. He doesn't look like he is going to last much longer. Does it seem like he has anything specific?

if it stopped eating, euthanise it
I have no way of doing that. Can I do anything for it? Like I said, this is my favorite guppy and my only one of this type. I thought it was strange that this happened all of a sudden and I would like to save him if I can.

I would second what Colin has said but you may want to increase the heat also to stimulate its appetite. Offer it some small blood worms with a tweezer to see if it will eat.

Do you have any CO2 addition into your aquarium? I’m just curious as to why the fish would be at the surface in some pictures but at the bottom in others. If you are doing anything that affects dissolved oxygen or Co2 put that on hold.

When fish are sick, they go to areas with lots of oxygen. When fish have internal organ failure or other major issues that cause intense pain, they breath heavily near the surface or near a filter outlet because this is where the oxygen is, and the filter outlet helps push water over the fish's gills. It's like a human being put on oxygen when they go to hospital.

Unfortunately when fish start breathing heavily, stop eating and do stringy white poop, they are stuffed and usually die within 24-48 hours of these symptoms occurring. This is because internal organ failure has usually occurred.

No, I don't have any Co2 additions in this tank.
