Well Im looking to adding a CO2 system DIY. I just want to add it to help grow my java moss faster.

I have my java moss sitting in my 10 Gallon Betta tank. I have 2 sponge filters running. (One Single Head and one double headed sponge filter)

So I guess this is a two part help question

I have made my CO2 system with a 2 litter pepsi bottle that runs into a smaller bottle then that will run into my tank.

So I know I need a Check Value, but Do I really need a bubble counter? Can I just stick the air line tubing into the water?

Will this harm my betta fish (and ghost shrimp haha)?

You could but you would get much better results if you had a diffuser of some sort or even a ladder would help.

ebay is always a good bet. You can buy small ones for a few pounds, Some from china/hong kong are very cheap. You should also purchase a co2 indicator so that you don't inject to much co2 which could be harm full to the fish. DIY injection can be a bit unpredictable.

Search for co2 diffuser and co2 drop checker.( the buble type are the best) IMO.
