Hi all

im after the easiest to use - even foolproof xD system out there

Ive never done such a thing as CO2 and it seems quite daunting

What system will i need to keep algae at bay (high lighting) and plants flourishing?

Thankssss

It depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of setup you want.

Low-tech means low light, little to no CO2 and dosing. Basically you just need the right lighting thats it, easy and cheap. About 2wpg or lower.
Mid to high-tech would mean medium/high light and CO2 and dosing. It's going to cost some $ to start off and maintain. Over 2wpg of lighting.

Theres a few option for CO2.
Cheapest to most expensive setup:
1) Nature. Let the fish and water chemistry do everything >> Low-tech
2) DIY CO2, yeast >> Good for small aquariums
3) Pressurized CO2 >> You don'y really need it unless you go high-tech

Just do some research before you start anything.

The type of co2 kit you want depends on the size of your tank and the lighting level.

Ive got over 2 wpg according to my thread about my algae problems (36w T5 over 70 litre)

If you are short of chas then you coudl run two nutrafin kits, and alternate changing them ever four days. I used to run nutrafin, on my 24lt now but I quickly switched to pressuired, and haven't looked back since, but even a cheap-ish kit will be 70quid, so not cheap.

Tip: If you do use DIY yeast kit for CO2, get 2, run them together but out of phase.

Unstable CO2 is the aquarists nightmare...

The nutrafin kit looks cool

Just wondering how do you test for co2 levels? If poss i need a total kit test for everything i may need (my others have ran out)

Is there such a kit?

Testing CO2 is a whole subject in it's own right & takes a bit of nounce to do it to any degree of accuracy.

Do a forum search in the planted section to uncover a wealth of information.... It's all there you just have to dig it out!

The permanent tester looks the best to me (little colour thingy)

Will be getting one with my nutrafin :)

Dont forget to get some 4dKH water when you get the drop checker :)
