Hi

I am in toe process of stripping down my 88 UK gall tank, to move some discus into it, (from my fish house).
When I was netting the clowns, I noticed that two of the six had grown horns.
The horns come out just infront of the eyes, and then bend horizontialy backwards. They are about 1cm long, (equal on both sides of the head).

They are called Eye Spines. Placed under there eyes. All botia's have them and some other loaches do also. They use them like a switch blade in defence or attack! Your Clowns where probly defending them self's. Ive been cut quite a few times from my Red Fin and Clowns.

There not just a pretty fish. ;)

Graeme.
