Clownfish Problems

What size is your tank? Are you the one with the 180 vision, because I was going to say that your tank is a little on the overstocked side; 2x regal tangs and a copperband? For all these fish you are going to need considerably more room.

Regards

Nothing i can do about the tangs they came with the tank then copperband is for the aiptasia, so had no choice .

Just to update you little clownfish is doing fine and it wasn't clown fish desease as first thought. My nitrate levels had shot through the roof and im told it was a fungal infection due to that anyway ive done a 25% RO water change and its gone down to between 10- 20 now where as b4 it measured almost 100.And im planning another 25% on wenesday/thursday so hopefully would of shifted it by then.

Just a quick one the woman in the shop told me to move my power head to the top of the tank so it could ripple the water and that might help.? I told her ive got an air stone already and she said i dont need one for a reef tank.?

I run an airstone in one of my filter chambers. It creates good surface turbulence and is hidden out of view. If you have a way of doing this it will certainly help to raise your PH a little.

Re: the 2 x of nitrates mentioned.

Nitrite is classed as NO[sub]2[/sub]

Nitrate is classed as NO[sub]3[/sub]

Just to say ive done three 25% water changes now and its not making much differance to the nitrate levels. Also took all fillters out and replaced them with one polly fillter.Hopefully do the 4th water change in 5 days 2morro and hopefully it has come down by then.

I don't know if you have thought of this but just donate the tangs and copperbanded butterfly fish to a LFS or see if you can get some credit for them. I hate to think of those beautiful fish all crammed into that tiny tank. You could maybe get away with a yellow tang if bought as a juvenile. You have a massive range of fish, corals and other invertebrates you can keep in a tank that size. For the aiptasia just buy a whole crew of peppermint shrimp or do as littleme suggested which me and Ski have previously informed you about. The copperbanded butterfly fish requires a minimum of a 100g/400 liter and so do the tangs. Please do think of the welfare of the animals you keep which I am sure you care about. Where possible always buy tank bred species and try to reduce the wild capture of marine life.

Regards

I will get rid eventually of the tangs and the butterfly but as the nitrate levels are so high and the clownfish is recovering from a fungal infection atm they wont be going anywhere the tangs were bought from young in that tank ive not put them there they were the size of a 2p piece when first bought. As for the aiptasia its all gone now. Thanks i know what you mean but it would be unfair of me to give them to someone atm if they have picked up any infections.

Just out of intrest have you ever been to chester zoo and seen the size of the tanks and how many fish they in there.? There tangs are 3 times the size of mine in a smaller tank with yellow tang also and alot of other stuff in there two.

Just to let you know got rid of the copperband today. Also because the nitrate levels were not changing after a week and half doing 50 litires a day, ive done a 100% water and sand change today. Now the nitrate is 0.5 from 100+.And also im getting rid of the bigger one of the tangs.
