I have rescued five fish from a friends house as they didn't want them.

These fish turned out to be 2 clown loach, 2 albino tetra and another type of tetra.

I have added these to my 125l tank, would this be ok? I currently have danios, golden flamed tetra and corys.

Hey,

+1 Rescuing fish from friend always a Good Look! As for the Tetras I can`t See anything in your tank that would purpose a problem, so good there, but the clown loaches I know are going to get to big for your tank and/or their growth will be stunted. Also I would think about trying to get some more albino tetra as to keep them in a small group 6+ Again Good look on the fish Rescue. Good Luck!

Everything looks good too me appart from the loaches, Well done for rescuing them :) But the Clown loaches will get way too big fast. There stunners though, Wish i could keep some but dont have the space "YET" :good:

Kudos for the rescue but you will have to rehome those loaches soon as they grow realy realy fast & get realy realy big.

I know they will grow too big for the tank but I don't know whether their growth would already be stunted. I am not sure how long they have had them think over 6 months and they were in one of them flagen tanks the small but good looking ones.

They said they had 2 bottom dwellers, I was expecting plecs didn't realise they were clown loaches until I picked them up.

How the LFS sold them these for such a small tank. Makes me mad :grr:

Again good on you for rescuing them all :good: the clowns are very SLOW growers so should be fine for a while, although if you not planning on upgrading might be best to rehome them now to avoid becoming attached to them

Currently how big are the clowns? As mentioned previously, they are very slow growing fish when they reach 4-5" or so! (ime)

hi
i have 2 clown loaches in a 185l tank will they grow to big for the tank?? hopefully not because i love them :/

Dutsey, good job rescuing those fish.
When it comes to clown loaches, they don't even tempt me. The largest tank I have where I would consider adding them is only 4 feet long and it is simply too small for a clown loach. One of the members of my club does have a few but they are quite large, even in his 6 foot long tank.

I have seen some that are between 4 and 5 inches, 10.0 to 12.5 cm, in length. The length is really not the issue. It turns out that they are not long skinny fish but are rather deep bodied fish. That means that their biological load is far more than you might expect from a similar length torpedo shaped fish.

oh ok thanks and i have a silver molly but dont know weather it is pregnant or not? how can i tell?

I have a link in my signature area to a series of pictures I took of a female molly throughout the full cycle of her pregnancy. It is intended to be a way for beginners to judge their own livebearer's progress. Once you have followed a few livebearer drops, you will be as expert as anyone else. It is the way that I became an "expert".

12 or 15 inch is about the max but very seldom reach that size in captivity.

I have owned a shoal of 5 for 22 years and have now added an additional six in the last month or so. the ones I have had for years are about 7 1/2 inch So must be slow growers and they are in a 6ft 750 lt tank and have been all those years.

I love clowns :good: :good:

i would add some photos of my (i think) pregnant molly but not sure how?
