Hi I have got three clown loach and they are perfectly OK. But I do know that they can suffer from white spot and that you cannot use a cure containing copper. So I just want to be ready (just in case.) When I asked in the pet shop they said that those cures with copper in them where the only ones that worked and so to just use half a dose. But that just seamed like throwing money away. So can somebody suggest a safe and useful cure so I know which one to buy if and when I need to. :byebye:

If you don't stress the clowns, give them good food, a place to hide and tip top water conditions, then you won't need any medication for them coz they won't get sick.

I agree completely  I was spooked when I first got my clowns, everybody said how sickly they tend to be. But I've had them for over a year, they've gone through many changes such as substrate and tank changes and I've never even seen a spot

However,if you're looking for alternative treatments, you may be interested in colloidal silver. It's not a heavy metal and it really does a number on ich, plus it's 100% clown loach safe. You can buy it at any good health food store, may be worth researching :)

Hi Rach :)

Ich can happen in anyone's tank, but if you keep your temperature stable and the water clean and fresh, the chances of it happening are greatly reduced.

It might sound simplistic to some, but there is nothing like good tank maintenance to prevent disease and this is always better than trying to cure sick fish.

Thanks for the advice above, everybody. I am keeping my tank clean and healthy but I just wanted to be armed and ready 'just in case.'
