7755matt, have you tried feeding your clowns cucumber, prawns or cooked chicken breast? If you are upgrading specifically for your loach I would advise increasing length & width rather than height, a 4x2x2 would be enough for the time being. Clowns get very big (12"+) but this does take some time, can be 10yrs or so.

Yes, we feed cucumber and the ancistrus and clowns have a good old munch, it never lasts very long.i have tried prawns and they went down quite well. Do i just thaw a couple out and chuck them in or should i prepare them?

7755matt, whatever they prefer really. I buy the peeled & cooked frozen ones, thaw a handfull in some tank water and throw them in, I have tried the uncooked ones and they loved them but they tend to cloud up the water.

As soon as i saw these little guys in my LFS, I had to get them. Stocked my 75G with 3 of them at the moment but plan on getting at LEAST 3 more. currently mine are only an inch long...they are SOOO awesome. definately a favorite of mine.

I love 'em, that's why I have 19 of the buggers and spend far to much time & money on feeding them properly and looking after them the way they deserve to be. A school of clowns is a real sight!!!
19!! awesomeee :hyper:
jeez how bigs the tank you keeping em in?
160g, long tank, heavily planted, full of hiding places and seriously over filtered & aerated. I have recently added another 3 juveniles to my school making 22 clowns, 8 of them are over 6" with the biggest at 9". I have plans for a 300g 8'x3' tank once the babies get bigger.

They are so cool and fascinating fish :good:

I have 4 they are about 1 to 1 1/2 inch long at the moment I have 190 litre tank but will be getting a really big tank in early 2010 to rehouse them especially as I would like to add to there number :good:

im getting 2 clown loaches for my 20 gal, orca MT50 84L tank ;)

the shop has babies, they said i can grow them, then trade them in :hyper:

my dad kept a clown loach tank for 7 years ,so he will help out ;)

I love my clowns there so funny to watch, got 2 tiny things in a 90L tank but am intending to get a much bigger tank when they need it.

got 2 clowns,
funny little critters, i used to worry that they were dead, they lay on there sides and then zip around the tank side by side. my rainbow shark thinks he is one of them, but he cant keep up.

they also love my filter they swim up the current alot. soooo cute! :good:

Ours dont just lay on their side, they then turn completely upside down! Then they kind of fall over on to their side, if they ever die i wont realise for ages, i'll just think they're asleep
