Clown Loach

As some have said loaches are known for strange behavior. Some will lie on their backs or sides not moving for hours. They are simply resting in these circumstances more often than not. They lose almost all of their color in a matter of minutes and turn a dull grey orange color, simply because they feel like it, not because they are sick. In fact the greyer the loach, the healthier, the stronger and more dominant, and the highest in the pecking order she likely is. Also fish lik eblack ghost knives will lie on their sides motionless. Scaless fish seem to do this often for reasons unknown. THey are so funny and popular because they are so unpredictable. My clownloaches are actually 6 years old and a mere 2-3 inches max, but they dig themselves under ornamanets that are hollow. How the heck they know these ornaments are hollow and have an open bottom I will never ever know, but it amazes me how smart and friendly and odd they are.

Yeh clown loachs do seem very funny fish.. mine are about 2"'s now.. they seem to like a few ornament i have also, sit in the middle of them or they chase each other round teh tubes from the undergravel filter.. then rest on teh heater haha

Right I'm off to bed now, got a early start at work tomorrow with the dog;s! Probs won't be on until late again.. has the sector i work in can't ganurentee what time i finish.. Animals very unpreditable!!

Night & Bye!

My clowns do this too  Just double check that your heater is keeping the whole tank the set temp constantly (not dropping at night)

They love tight spaces to sleep, so if you dont already have any get a small cave or some wood with a hole. the smaller the better.
I think he has just feels safe behind the heater. Mine does it when the yoyo loaches steal his favorite cave for the night.
He will get lonely though, they really need to be in a group, they play together and they huddle together to sleep. :)
They feel safer in groups and have more personality. :)

I dont think i totaly agree with that. A healthy loach should have good colour.
If the dominent one is grey its because they are stressed and are fighting to remain the dominent fish. Not grey because it is healthy.
