i'm concerned about my 2 new clown loaches :(

i don't think they're feeding..... i feed the tank alternate days with flakes and algae wafers, but they don't seem interested.....the others love the wafers....

i usually feed live food on a Sunday.

any suggestions?????

please........

Sarah,

Try some veggies. Blanch some cucumber or lettuce (mine had a preference for cucumber) or get some peas boil them lightly then get the mushy bit out the middle.

Remember they are fairly shy so also try feeding with the lights out, they will prob feel a little more secure & will then be more likely to feed......

HTH... :)

I feed mine with (thawed out) peeled/frozen prawns and chopped up garden worms.

They also love Hikari catfish wafers, but so do the silver dollars in my tank, which is why feeding after dark is a good idea.

They also appreciate cucumber and/or corgette - they need a green part to their diet.

thanks for the replies.... still new to the hobby... ;)

where would i get catfish wafers from??? -_-

we are from the same neck of the woods.. i'm down the road in Eccles!!

Greetings neighbour.

My 2 local fishshops (Timperley Aquatics and World of Water) both sell Hikari catfish wafers.

They're quite hard in the packet (rock solid in fact) but soften up slowly in water without dissolving or clouding the water.

Also try garden worms. Dig some up and wash the soil off them under the tap.

Wrap them in kitchen roll (so they don't stick togther) and put them in the freezer (to kill and preserve them).

At feeding time, snap a couple of centimetres off and chop it in to 2 to 3mm chucks so it will sink. Feed it after dark for best results.

Clown loaches also like peeled/frozen prawn

Our Clown loaches fav food seems to be blood worms, they won't touch flakes, they like shrimp. but go mad for blood worms. They get quicker to the food than even our eel

Mine are very nice and EVERYTHING I throw in. Luv em' so much, they even let me pat them now

Mine like most foods (especially blood worm) they also love lettuce and cucumber.

Anyone else heard them 'clicking' when they eat algae wafers????

I thought clown loach were up there with silver dollars as some of the most nervous fish around?

Any time I put my hand in they're off into the corner and tremble like mad...

I can feed my angels by hand though...
