I got them out of the 55 gallon drum yesturday because the clowns were getting mad being cramped and splashing a lot. A friend gave me the tank but it's galvy so it had to be lined the liner was just something I had lying around and being there's a bit of unfinished plumbing on the bottom it will leak if i have it inside. I need to coat it with neoprene and fix the plumbing before winter. 3x the water though. The filter is a five gallon bucket.

The dempsey wil probably make it inside before the knives (because he doesn't need a gigantic tank). I've been warned that dempsey might try to kill them at some point. For now they are pretty chummy though. I'm just glad since I moved them they're not sulky..

It does leave me with a big question I never thought of before despite knowing full well how big the youngsters I have will get and it's this:

How the heck do you make a cave for fish that big? :dunno:

You could take a piece of 4" diameter plastic pipe that would be safe in the water, use some "fish safe" adhesive and aply some substrate to make it look more appealing to look at. Those are some nice looking fish. I know that Dempseys can become aggressive, but if it is a female, the Knives might be OK because the females aren't as aggressive as the males. I would say a 75 gallon tank should be fine for the adult Jack, and a 200 gallon for the Knives so they would have enough room to run around. Good luck with them.
