Hi i have a pair of common clown fish and they have layed lots of eggs. what is the chance of survival? if they dont get eatten what should i do to keep them alive.

depending on tank, and since you were caught off guard, id say the survival chance is almost 0.

Move them to a dedicated tank and prepare live phytoplankton and live rotifer cultures.

THe easiest way would be to remove the rock, but keeping it submersed at all times, if its a small enough rock just put it in a bucket under water and then remove the bucket, then do it again vise versa into another tank. But then you would need to have food ready for when they hatch.

First batch, i say leave them, its not worth the trouble as they probably just wont make it.

Yeah, read up on breeding and care for the fry first. once a pair of clowns starts to breed they will usually continue to do so like clockwork. So setup phyto and rotifer cultures first and get a good fry tank cycled and ready (hint, use a sponge filter only). Once your cultures and tank are up and running, then consider keeping them.

And if you're REALLY serious, pickup a book called Clownfishes by Joyce Wilkerson, pretty much the bible on the subject
