Mods.. thanks for the move.. keep forgetting about the other parts of the forum.. oops.

I've always liked the look of clown loaches, but with a 48USG tank it has never been a good idea to get them.

However, I was looking at a place in knaphill and i spotted some large clown barbs, which were really colourful ones and looked a bit like a clown loach but more normal barb shaped (not all the pic i have seen on google show the colours how they were in this shop). The body was more orange than the one shown here

I didn't even know they existed, and so I am wondering if anyone knows much about them and whether they would be suitable in my tank with their tank mates. Currently have: panda corys, pentazona barbs, otos, BN Plec and cardinal tetras. The txt i have read state that they like the middle of the tank, which i would like some tank mates, as the pentazona and cardinals tend to spend more time at the bottom.

Any advice?

Cheers

Might have gone off them slightly.. sounds like they will munch on the plants i want to add... grr..

Actually clown barbs enjoy warmer water than almost any other barb and would do great with clown loaches. If you add plants with tougher leaves they should be fine, any of the lacy leaved type of plants would be salad. Clown barbs can reach up to five or six inches eventually.
