Cloudy water

ok i have a 15 year old filter that was stored in the attic for eons. I set it up today in my 10g and went out to try to buy filters but they dont make the kind anymore at least where i am, so, i made my own out of a old washcloth and carbord and carbon. When i turned it on the water became very cloudy and it looks horrible. I did a 50% water change and it did nothing. it is an auto flo and i think it used to go on my dads old 50 gallon. What should i do?? Any help would be great.

ya might wanna invest in a new filter...good ones are really not that expensive

if its only a ten gallon tank an AquaClear 150 would work great and is only about 16 dollars on Thatpetplace.com
