thats common for new tanks, its just early algae blomes. i set up a betta tank yesterday (5g) and it is super cloudy today also.

Ive had that problem before too, my ten gallon was really cloudy and nasty for the first few days after i got it all put together. It cleared up after a week or two though...but a tank that big i cant give even an estimate on how long it would take. i like the way you put the slate in there. :good:

its not a algae bloom but rather a bacterial bloom.. give it some time and the bacteria will soon attach itself to substrate/filter and the cloudiness will disappear

Would it help if i pour some water from another tank in to it to help thats all set up and been running for the last year

no it wouldnt, as you cycle your filter not the water but if you want to do an instant cycle take some of the media out of your tank thats been running and put it in this one. then change 60% of the water.

Hi all i have in the other tank is a sponge and a white sheet thing which is full of fish cr@p

the "sponge" thats the media, its there to hold bacteria that keeps your tank cycled. you never wash this. that is what you need to clone your tank with. if you havent washed this like your supposed to then cut some off and put it in with the media on new tank and instant cycle. srry if this confuses you.

Ok so do i put it in the slot with the sponge or the slot with the carbon. Ok ive cut a 5cm x 5cm bit off and put it in with the sponge in the new tank

Well took afishdude advice and now i have clear water thanks buddy
