Cloudy Water Problem

Hi there guys n gals!

I have a little problem with my new tank... I setup the tank some days ago with no problem at all, untill i bought some fish. I added the fish to the tank and all of a sudden overnight the water went cloudy, and i can barely see the back of the aquarium. Does anyone know why this is, and can possibly tell me some ways to clean it up so its back to being crystal clear? I dont want my fish to die of it as they wernt very cheap!

PS. I am using an Interpet PF1 filer, with a superfine filter pad installed, along with the normal one and a carbon one.

firstly you tank wont have been ready for fish, unless you were planning on fish cycling. The cloudy problem could be due to a few different things, new tanks usually get cloudy. If you havent cycled the filter then the fish are going to be suffering as the ammonia they produce is toxic.

Need more info on size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish have you added and which type.
Did you wash the substrate well.

OK, its a 48ltr tank...
I added only 2 fish... Small Angels...
Substrate was washed... its a glass substrate andway and didnt require washing at all...

I have added Interpets Filter Start, which adds beneficial bacteria to the fliter to give a sudden jump start to the initial cycle. I think!!

That tank is way to small for angels they need 30gals.
I would take them back as there not even a cycling fish.
Maybe think of doing a fishless cycle.
Look at the cycling of a tank, research your fish for your tank size, plenty of info in the pinned topics for you.

That doesnt explain why my water is cloudy though does it? I figured from what i been reading around that there maybe too much bacteria in the water? And should clear itself at some point? Or maybe use some Interpet Filteraid to help clean things up?

How much have you been feeding.
Could be the interpet stuff, I doubt very much its a bacterial bloom though it is a very small tank.
Do you have enough aeration as with using that interpet stuff and not enough surface movement that will cause the tank to go cloudy.

I have a decent flow of air using a large airstone to the rear of the tank. I have used the same interpet stuff in my partners parents tank and theres is fine, crystal clear.

Need to look at your stats in ammonia,nirie,nitrate, and ph.
Really the tank is overstocked with just two angels in it.

forgot to say, they get one small dose of food a day, as i am aware that overfeeding can cause cloudyness

OK ill get the stats up soon as. They are only small angels, not the full size ones, and the lady in the shop did say that they shouldnt grow no bigger, just so you know they are around 1inch long.

Well she not been honest with you as angels need swimming room, so if you don't believe me ask in the cichlid section of the forum usually 25 gals to 30 gals for them.

Hey thanks for that link, really useful information there. Its not that i dont believe you, just the fact they had seperate tanks with the bigger breed in it... Not to worry, if needbe ill donate then to my Uncle, hes got a much bigger aquarium. Will follow the info in that link and let you know how it develops...
It says to add more Bacterial Supplements... Thats just crazy enough to work!

lol, thats not the fish i have in my tank. maybe i got conned into buying a baby Normal angel fish that going to grow rather large! Tho you say they need alot of swimming room, mine dont seem too active, guess thats something to do with the current water conditions
