it has been up and running for around 6 weeks, and contines 4 rams 12 firehead tetras, 10 neons, 5 cories and 4 angels

all water parameters are fine and light are on for around 10 hours a day to facilitate plant growth.

It's probably just a bacterial bloom. I had one in my 10 gallon a few weeks after I set it up. I didn't cycle my tank before adding the fish because I was doing a rescue of some fish from a nasty nasty tank that had been ignored for close to a year! I bought a new 10G tank, put the fish in and started daily water changes to keep the tank from spiking too much.

I came home from work one day and it looked like someone had poured a glass of milk into my tank. I freaked out! Called my handy dandy lfs and she kinda laughed at me, well not really, but talked me into not worrying about it too much.

When I set up my 30G, I cycled the tank before adding fish, and didn't have the bloom.

It probably isnt anything to worry about. Mine took close to a week to clear up, and when it did, the tank was crystal clear.

i didnt go through a tradional cycle with the tank, but did run the filter on an established tnak for 3 weeks first? could this have been what caused it?
