I have had the cycling process going for 2 days now and just noticed this morning the water seems a little cloudy. Its not too bad but you can tell its not clear. Before I added everything I made sure it was washed properly. Anyone know if this is normal and how I can clear it.

It does happen and should clear it self up as long as you keep to the cycling process.

I believe it is the sudden explosion of bacterial growth, before they find somewhere to anchor themselves to, (ie. your filter). As said, it's perfectly norml, keep with the cycling and it will clear back down :)

Ok cheers I read the sticky about fishless cycling which says its best to wait for the dust and cloudyness to settle for a few days before starting the amonia tests so I am going to do this.

Yes, it's tricky to know, but there are two 'cloudy water' situtations you can get in the new tank.

The first is when you have just added your water, and the tank will look cloudy, perhaps even 'milky' until the dust settles. Just leave the filter running and let the tank get on with it at this stage.
Once the dust has settled etc you can start your fishless cycle by adding the ammonia etc. Usually about 2 days after this your water will go cloudy again. THIS cloudiness is NOT the same dust etc from the substrate but the bacterial bloom from the starting of the cycle, and you must just carry on with your tests (and adding ammonia if needed) throughout this stage. Again it will clear in a day or two.
:good:

if its on the top of the tank you need to break the surface area maybe a air pump will do the job
