it's the last of my fake plants. just waiting to replace it.
 
temperament is okay. he chases the female around some, but otherwise he's good. i made the mistake of getting a single gourami before and had to isolate him from the rest of the tank once - he got quite nasty with the rest of the fishies. this one, along with his reclusive female counterpart, gets along good with the others.
 
hmm finally a picture of a red fire dwarf. a few q's how long have you had them? Were they easy to keep?
 
i've had them a few weeks now - all's well thus far. they don't require a lot of maintenance at all. i do have to say, i'm convinced that gourami is latin for "underwater cow." homeboy just grazes all day on the live plants. he's not doing irreparable damage to them (so far as i can see), but every time i look at him, he's eating. occasionally he'll go up to the surface of the water with a chunk of plant in his mouth and spit it out. he can't spit it out at the bottom. it has to be at the top. i dunno...

here's a shot of the female. as you can see in this picture, she too is keen on chowing the plants.
