Sounds kind of crazy, but does anyone else find that their clown loaches "click" when they feed? It's not a problem, just wondered if anyone else has experienced this!

yes many loaches do this. My Botia striatas click like mad when feeding. Its totally normal. :)

I have heard from some sources that the clicking comes from mouth plates (bones) and others, that the spines under their eyes are actually making the noise....I am more for believing that it is the mouth plate theory :D

When loaches click it is when they move their spines.

It is only clown loaches that are really famous for the clicking but most botia species do it.

I know what you mean. It's terrible I know, but I only got them to eat my snails really, but I'm so glad I did now!

................of course :D it would be rude not to answer them when they're talking to you

Once, when I was moving my big weatherfish to another tank, he made the strangest sound. It sounded almost like something a rodent would make, and it was loud! It startled me so much I almost dropped him!

I've never heard another word from him since then, so I guess he's happy. :D

my clown and yo-yo's click when eating hard foods like algae wafers

i agree with living_dead... one more reason loaches kick ass

First time i heard my loaches going at an algae wafer i thought the tank had split, scared the begebies out of my!!!! though makes me  as well, these faces are cool 8)
