After reading articles in here I have been feeding my silver dollars blanched courgette - they absolutely love the stuff   Tonight I was watching them whilst the microwave was on, when it went ping the sd's went beserk, positively manic! are they that clever???? to know the ping means tea time?????? :-(

Anyways, back to the q, after their fill there is a large amount of 'fluff' left from food, this clogs the filter and much settles on the gravel. When the sd's get active (and they do) they stir up all the 'bits' and it makes the tank look like a snowscene, none of the fish eat it.

Is there an easy way to clear it up? or a better way of serving their favourite food?

U could try feeding smaller chunks and/or dont leave them in the tank so long :)

Hi guys, I feed them 2 whole slices (app 1mm thck) and 1 diced slice in one go. The diced courgette is gone in under a minute and the slices might make 20 mins.

So what you are saying is theat they make less of a mes with the diced stuff, but you like to watch them tear into the slices? :)

ah, I think I'm getting your drift gl

should I dice it all???????

If that makes less of a mess, it is what I would do. I have seen those hangers where you can put a whole wad of something in at once, been thinking about trying one.

funnily enough the sd's seem happier like that too..... guess I'm gonna be feeding em all night lol? oh, and one of them is being bullied by my last golden barb - they are supposed to be friendly (arent they?) I foungd out the bruises on the sd that I first thought were from banging into the bogwood are being caused by the golden barb ramming into him :(

Can't wait to get them into the 3' (but I will)

the same happens in my tank, even with cucumber, it looks cloudy but
it does clear, no ill affects as yet,

so, can I get something to hoover it all up??? or is it my job?? -_-

mine gets cloudly epes when the plec chasing the courgette around the tank and uproots the plants lol but it clears( the clouldy mess) and the plants get back into place with a helping hand lol

I tried my fish with peas, which ive heard fish love, but mine arent to bothered. What other vegetables do fish like.
I just feed my fish flakes, and frozen blood worms, what else can i try them with.
There all herbivores the fish i have so i guess they will eat anything wont they?

i feed my fish cucumber lettuce when i spoil them i give them choped
pieces of prawn they love this  also freeze deied tubiflex worms,
my lfs guy told me that they will eat fruits but i have'nt tried this yet,
i always give them a varied diet, along with the normal flake foods, oh when you feed salads blanch them first for a couple of mins,

'Young leaf ' Spinach, freeze it as it is, this breaks down cell structure making it digestible. Whiptails and Bristles love it, as do Apple Snails (William)... B)

mmmm not tried that, shall have to get some,
