Today I picked up a used 20g long tank at a used equipment sale at the local lfs. What I'm wondering is how do I properly clean the darn thing? Should I use soap and water? Just water? Vinegar? What to do?!?!? Please help as I'd like to set up this tank asap. Thanks! -Brad

To remove hard water stains, use vinegar, & rinse with water. To sterilize, a solution of 1 part bleach to 20 parts water is recommended.

use vinegar and water, do NOT use any type of soap on the tank!

you shouldn't have to sterlilize the tank with bleach, but you can. its not necessary

I recently cleaned a 100 gallon tank that was sitting for 4 years with 4 inches of water in the bottom, and an under gravel filter.
Now that was definitely a lot of work to do in 1 day.... it literally took the entire day to clean it all.

erm... dunno if your as stupid as me, but don't use boiling water!

I poured water straight from the kettle into my new 10 Gallon last year.

CRACK.. :X

..just thought i'd warn ya..
