i have just acquired a juwel 60 tank. its quite dirty, whats the best way i can deep clean it to kill all the germs and remove any dirt or algae?

Weak bleach solution and lots of scrubbing. :good:

Make sure you rinse it out VERY well afterwards, though.

Hi, as above but watch the silicone seals in the bottom and corners. Food use foam scourers are good but only the white ones as used for cleaning non stick pans (not the green ones as they can scratch glass) A craft knife blade (Stanley knife) used carefully helps with stubborn algae but again keep away from the silicone.

When finished, just when you think all is done......give it another rinse just to be sure! ;)

I use Cooking Salt and warm water with a sponge and a tooth brush. For calcium stains etc I use Vinegar.
Then rinse out throughly with fresh water.
