Cleaning my Tank

hey pplz i have lost of dirt and old fishflakes and that sorta stuff in my rocks and i wanan clean it with out disturbing anything

how can i do this an would be a great help asap

You can buy gravel vacuums for $5.57 canadian at Wal-mart. They work perfectly. You could also use a large turkey baster to scoop up some of the junk.

if a vacuum is useless, then I guess the only thing to do is to remove the gravel, and do a massive w/c.

Don't remove the gravel and do a water change. Find another way. I killed off all my fish doing a massive water change and removing the gravel.

Gravel vaccum would probably work best.

Agreed, gravel vacuum. It siphons out the water for a water change, and cleans the gravel in the process.

Gravel vacuums work great if you use them regularly to clean your tank. If you have loads of gunk from not cleaning for ages like I did after I cycled with fishfood, then it won't seem to help much just using the gravel vac once. But if you use if regularly for water changes ie once a week then they work fine. If you have fish food on the bottom of the tank you are probably overfeeding anyway. So if you cut back on the fish food and use a gravel vac regularly then you should find it easier to keep everything clean.

No manual, but the way I do it is to push the mouth of the vacuum tube a couple of inches down into the gravel. The gravel will start to swirl and will go up the tube a little bit. Then you'll see all the dirt coming out and this will get syphoned away, but the gravel won't actually go anywhere. Push the tube up an down a little bit to stir things up a little. Once the water runs clear slowly lift the tube out of the gravel, and all the gravel in the tube will fall back down where it was. Move the tube a couple of inches over and repeat! And also if you can lift up rocks and wood every now and again, you won't believe how much mess gets under those things!

If you're having issues with a gravel vac it is probally the level of the tank compared to the level of your bucket. I have issues with my 120 that is sitting directly on the floor. Takes Forever to vac, but the tanks that are on stands go quickly and painlessly.
