I used it lime 2 years ago.
Im not sure exactly what you mean by this but I think you might have to leave it in a bit longer because things can soak pretty deep into the wood.
I recently purchased some Mopani bog wood and I wanted to stop it from turning my water brown.
First I give it a realy good scrub under hot water then give it a good rinse. Then I filled the sink up with boiling water from the kettle (my electricity bill is gonna be huge) then put the bog wood in to soak. after a few hours when the water had cooled, I put the wood in the oven for about half an hour at 100C then another 20 mins at 180C. This made it sweat. Then after that I filled a 15L bucket full of hot water, put the bog wood in while it was still hot (obviously with heat proof gloves) as well as a spare powerhead to circulate the water and left it going all night. I woke up in the morning to find brown water in the bucket. Kinda like weak tea. So I had my morning brew, emptied the bucket, filled it with hot water and put the powerhead back in. I did this for 3 days, replacing the water 2 or 3 times a day until the water almost stoped turning brown.
Now its been in the tank 2 days and the water is still crystal clear :)
So, with it only soaking for a few hours I dont think everything will be out yet.

i boiled mine in a big pot for about 4 hours changing water every 45 mins or so! this softened the wood and alot of tannis came out...dipped the wood in cool water! give it a gd scrub and then put it in the tank...no brown water at all :D

what i ment was i have used it before but like 2 years ago.I have just boiled it again and i will see how bad the water turns brown,It is alos for my betta tank and will have indian almond leave sthat turn the water a tea colour so it doesnt realy matter.
