Sorry I know that I have mentioned this before, but I really would like to pick the brains of the fish loving people here. As far as I am aware we all use some sort of plastic piping from pump to tank the more this piping is in contact with sunlight the grimier it gets and as these pipes can be any length depending on distance from pump to aquarium, do members here throw away their pipes and renew them each time, or do they attempt to clean them if the later is the case, how is this achieved to get the desired affect.

Best Wishes k5asr

There are two ways of achieving this. One way is to buy a dark coloured pipe, and this discourages the formation of sludge algae, the disadvantage is on the very dark pipes you can't tell how dirty it is, until the water almost stops.
The other method is to purchase some specially made for aquarium pipe cleaners. Normally they come in a pack with different size brush heads. These are attached to a bendy wire of different lengths and you push the brushes through the pipe. Work it in and out like using drain rods. If you need a mega long cleaner just join the bendy wire with more bendy wire. Simple.

Thank you very much I will bear all you said in mind, my task now is to find a site that sells these extra lengh cleaning wires, once again thanks so much. :)
