Hi,

I want to place a clay pot in the corner of my one tank, angled maybe 45 degrees towards the viewer. In the pot i would like to place a plant with some aquarium grit.

Anyone give me some advice, is this a good idea or am I making a fubar.

Thanks

clay pots are fine to put in a tank........just make sure its nothing with limestone in it coz that will instantly kill ur fish

if maybe ur unsure if anythin has got limestone in....just give it a few layers of varnish

yeah id nix the varnish idea. you dont even know what kind of chemicals you can be introducing to your tank.
just drop some white vinegar on the pot, if it fizzes youve got limestone, and I would just look for another pot.

theres a certain type of varnish that is used for water.....it doesnt give off any chemicals at all and is entirely safe to use

ask some1 like tanked or dolphin....they should know

Hi,

Thanks - Been collecting rocks from allover and i'm amazed at just what fizzles, been trying it on a lot of rocks. What about copper in the rocks how would i test 4 that (barring seeing the green oxidization on the rocks).

My bottle of vinegar is nearly finished and tomorrow is a public holiday..

going to see if the poty fizzes.

Thanks
